Advent Calendar Activities

Although I didn't get a chance to make an actual Advent calendar, I did create a list of things to do each to count down to Christmas. We have done most of the things on the list (not necessarily in the right order), and there are a couple of days left to check off a few more things.

1. Decorate the Christmas tree 

2. Set up the Little People Nativity Scene 

3. Purchase gifts for Project Christmas family (this year we participated with New Orleans Moms Blog)
4. Make reindeer footprint

5. Bake homemade chocolate chip cookies

6. Deliver homemade chocolate chip cookies to neighbors

7. Watch Charlie Brown's Christmas Special

8. Read What Is Christmas?

9. Drive around to look at Christmas lights

10. Take a picture with Santa Claus

11. Make salt dough ornaments

13. Read Llama Llama Holiday Drama

14. Attend Teddy Bear Tea

15. Watch Elf

16. Visit Celebration in the Oaks

17. Make personalized ornaments for co-workers

18. Read/Watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas

19. Make homemade hot chocolate

20. Watch Frosty the Snowman

21. Visit the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans

22. Read The Cajun Night Before Christmas

23. Watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

24. Attend Christmas Eve service at church

25. Sing Happy Birthday to Jesus

I included things on our list that, even though we weren't able to do this year, like attend Teddy Bear Tea or visit Celebration in the Oaks, I want to remember them for next year. I would also love to include more service oriented items, like serving food at a soup kitchen and donating non-perishable items to a food bank. I really want to make sure we teach Addison the true meaning of the season, and that it truly is more fulfilling to give than it is to receive.
