Addison is 18 months old today!!
How is that even possible?!
It's such a bittersweet moment when we think back to where we started.
We are extremely grateful that she is doing so well...thriving, growing, learning.
But it seems like it all happened in a blink of an eye!
On the sleeping front, we've had a few rough nights, most likely due to teething. Poor girl is cutting her bottom molars now.
Speaking of, she's got 10 teeth now!
She's becoming a tad more adventurous on the eating front (remember the crab rangoon?). I've been searching for some toddler approved recipes on Pinterest, and have found quite a few we are going to try out. Most of them are simple recipes, like mini corn dog bites, that I think she'll love. Last night I made pigs in the blanket out of refrigerated biscuits and cocktail sausages with a little cheddar cheese. May not be the healthiest dinner, but she gobbled up two like she hadn't eaten in weeks!
Since she's been walking, she has. not. stopped! She does walk with a limp because her hip is out of place, but she's really doing well with it. For the last couple of weeks, our PT has been working with her, and giving us tips, on having her standing in one place while playing and standing up from sitting on the floor. Instead of pushing herself up, she would crawl over to the nearest object and pull herself back up to start walking again. For the last few nights, though, she's been trying to do it herself, which is really the cutest thing! And since Monday, she's been standing in place for a few minutes, so I think we're almost there! Last night, Michael put her down after telling her goodnight, and she walked all the way from the living room to her bedroom and was waiting for me to read her "buhks."
Now that she's got the walking thing down, we are slowing starting to hear more words. She's got "hi" and "bye bye" mastered, we hear "ball" pretty often, and now she says "all done" as she's doing the sign for it. She has been saying "da-da" for a while, but "ma-ma" has recently (like just last night) made an appearance again. And "uh-oh" is heard quite frequently at the most appropriate times...she must have said it at least ten times after we put her to bed last night. We had a single domain speech assessment done by Early Steps to see if she qualifies for speech therapy earlier this week. We don't have the results yet, but the therapist didn't seem too concerned, and even said that if she does qualify, she didn't see a reason to have to come every week, but maybe just once a month. As everyone has been saying, her vocabulary will probably explode soon since she's getting the walking thing down.
Weight: 20.5 lbs (still in size 3 diapers)
Height: 31"
Size: 12 month pants, 18 month shirts, and size 4 shoe.
Now, is it too early to start planning her 2nd birthday party? Is it sad I already have the theme picked out?

aww! happy 18 months little addie! so excited about her walking more and more!
ReplyDeleteSo many big girl milestones lately! How exciting for her. And you! I suspect the next six months will be filled with many more firsts.
ReplyDeleteHappy 18 months!
KK
Never too early to plan a party!! Though what I would say is that T had SO many new likes between like 21 and 24 months ... he has kind of (sort of) moved on from Elmo (zoo animals are cooler now), so the theme could change if you care about that at all!
ReplyDeleteHappy 18 months!! Love her sweet outfit.
ReplyDeleteAnd the answer to your question is "no," Anytime is a good time to start planning a party! :)
Happy 18 months Addison! :) and no, not too early to start planning. I already have several ideas for Andrew's 2nd birthday! Of course, this time, his party will be really small, but I still have an idea! :)
ReplyDeleteand she has many of the same words as Andrew- maybe they can have a conversation together. ;)
She's so adorable! If I have a little girl I'm going to look to y'all for fashion hints!
ReplyDeleteW loves those pigs in a blanket too. Let me know how the corn dog bites turn out.
Have a great weekend! Y'all going to any parades?
