Sunday was Michael's birthday. I had been asking him for a few weeks where he wanted to go to dinner, and I admit I was pretty excited about having a date night. Well, he told me last week he would be perfectly happy staying home and grilling steaks. So, that's what we did. I wanted to let him sleep in, so I tried to keep Addie as quiet as possible. That means a couple episodes of Bubble Guppies on the iPad.
I can usually think of original gifts for Michael but this year, I had a tough time with both of his Christmas and birthday gifts. This year, I got him a remote meat thermometer and a pair of Crocs. He also got a new tv for our living room (more details in a coming post). As soon as Addie saw the tissue paper, she had to help her Daddy open his gifts.
Every year, Michael's birthday cake is a traditional king cake. When I picked it up Sunday morning from the bake shop, I also bought half dozen of donuts for Michael's birthday breakfast. And it was this little girl's lucky day! She got to eat her first (half) donut! I think she liked it!
Sunday afternoon, while Michael was setting up the television, Addie and I played with every.single.toy. she owns. But we had the most fun just rolling her little ball back and forth. She would get so excited, scrunch up her nose, and giggle. I told her she was a silly girl with her scrunchy nose, so the rest of the afternoon, every time I would say "scrunchy nose," she would make this face. She was cracking us up!!

And after our delicious dinner of grilled steaks with herb potatoes, asparagus, and romaine hearts, we had our first king cake of the year! We debated on whether or not to give Addie any since it was an hour before her bed time. We thought we had taken all the sugar off the top, but this little girl found every last granule on her high chair tray. I had a bad feeling that bedtime was not going to go as smoothly as it usually does because of all the sugar she consumed in one day, but our poor baby crashed hard at 7:30 and slept right up until Michael woke her up Monday morning.

How sad that this post is about Michael's birthday, yet there are no pictures of him? But he said he had a great day so that's what counts!
Yay for king cake! Those are the joys of a January birthday! That dress is too perfect and I'm glad she enjoyed the Sunday treats!
