I had this little personal goal that I was actually going to blog every day in September. But, obviously, I didn't accomplish that goal before it was even started since today is September 4th. Maybe I should change that goal to just publishing 30 posts during the month of September. Then I could double up some days.
Speaking of September, I REALLY want Michael to get the fall decorations tote down from the attic but it just doesn't feel right smelling the scent of pumpkin spice throughout the house when it's NINETY-FIVE degrees outside!!
It has been four weeks since Addison's cast was removed, and she just started balancing while standing. Today, she took three steps. The orthopedic surgeon told us it would take between two and four weeks and just when I'm about to call him all concerned that she hasn't walked yet, she'll start walking. We really thought she'd be walking sooner than this since she was so mobile while in her cast though. I'm hoping by this weekend she gains more confidence and is on the move.
In two and a half weeks, Addison will begin the two year old program at a local preschool. She was originally supposed to start August 1st, when they start their new school year, but the surgery and cast pushed the start date back. We think she is absolutely going to LOVE it and benefit tremendously from it. Of course, I also have anxiety over the whole situation. Will she listen and behave? Will she make friends? What if the other kids are mean to her? What if she starts biting? But the scariest thing for me is her health. She will get sick. It's inevitable. But we are praying that her immune system has strengthened and her little body can fight off any germs that come her way. She has come such a long way and is doing amazingly well so sometimes it's easy to forget that her lungs are still fragile.
Since she will be starting school, we are going to have to say goodbye to our full time babysitter who has been with us since Addison was five months old. She has really become a part of our family and I want to do something special for her. I found a few ideas for a memorable gift that I think she will really appreciate and I'm going to work on it this weekend. If it turns out well, I'll even blog about it. :)
